Multiple SIS vendor state with strong local control
issues. No chance for single SIS in near future.

VA DOE issued an RFP
in the fall of 2003 for an Education Information Management System
(EIMS).
Peason Educational was awarded the contract to build the
EIMS in November 2004 in the contract amount of $7.3M.
Plans call for development of EIMS in 2004
The requirments in the RFP included:
Robust decision support tools, standard and ad-hoc
reporting tools, web based data loading, secure data transfer,
asssignment of Unique Student Identifier for each VA student,
ability to pre-identify students for state assessments, additional
ability to add other programs
The Educational Information
Management System will feature:
- Decision Support Tools for Teachers and Administrators
- Training for Educators on Using Information to Make
Better Decisions
- Ability to Pre-identify Students for State Assessments
- Standard and Ad-hoc Reporting
- Secure Web-based Data Transfer
