North Dakota is Local Controled District State with 70 of
the approximately 200 districts using PowerShchool - Tried several
years ago to build PowerSchool enterprise statewide system that
failed. Now each LEA has choice to use who they want but PS still
has majortiy of districts using their system. Fargo has 11,000
students and uses SASI; BizMark uses PowerSchool, around 10,700 ADM,
but has it set up on multiple data bases.
Assessment run by CBT, separate system.
Teacher Certification run by ND Education Practice Board
(mainrame system). Plans for incorporating HQT program into
eventual data warehouse are on the drawing board.
Tetra Data (South Carolina Vendor), has statewide
contract to transform existing homegrown data collection system.
TetraData is just about to begin to implement Phase II, and Phase
III will be maintenance. All ND schools are involoved in that
initiative to aggregate school and student data for data mining and
"business intelligence" purposes.
Special Education System is old system and plans to find
new system for that is being looked at.
Professional Development is practically non-existent at
state level.
No Grants
Management System in place, "need one!"
Unique Student Identifier System plans for four (4)
months from now. Current capability "is a mess."
